Henry Cho is an American stand-up comedian. His work may be heard multiple times a week on SiriusXM Radio’s Channel 98, Laugh USA, Sirius Radio’s Jeff and Larry’s Comedy Roundup Channel 97, and Pandora Radio’s PG Comedy Radio Channel. Cho appeared on a variety of television series in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including The Arsenio Hall Show, Bob Hope’s Young Comedians Special, MTV’s 1/2 Hour Comedy Hour, VH-1’s Stand-Up Spotlight, and A&E’s An Evening at the Improv.

Career

Cho appeared on a variety of television series in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including The Arsenio Hall Show, Bob Hope’s Young Comedians Special, MTV’s 1/2 Hour Comedy Hour, VH-1’s Stand-Up Spotlight, and A&E’s An Evening at the Improv. His other TV credits include cameo appearances on sitcoms such as Designing Women, Lenny, and The New WKRP in Cincinnati, as well as a lead role in the television film Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation. After returning to Tennessee in 1994, Cho was approached by NBC to host a redesigned version of Friday Night Videos, titled Friday Night. For two years, he made a weekly commute to Los Angeles. More recently, he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Late Show.

He also delivered the keynote address for the 59th Annual Radio and Television Correspondents’ Dinner. Cho is a well-known “clean” comedian who avoids profanity and inappropriate material and is frequently referred to as “Mr. Clean.” He’s appeared in three feature films. In 1997, he appeared in McHale’s Navy alongside Tom Arnold and David Alan Grier. He appears in the Farrelly Brothers’ 2001 film Say It Isn’t So, alongside Heather Graham and Chris Klein. In 2006, he appeared in Material Girls, alongside Hilary and Haylie Duff. Cho toured the United States with Amy Grant and Vince Gill for the holidays of 2003 and 2004, appearing live during the couple’s presentation. In 2006, he had his own Comedy Central special called Henry Cho.

In 2007, he secured an agreement with Touchstone Pictures and ABC to create, produce, and appear in a television situation comedy series about Korean-Americans living in the South. In 2009, he inked a deal with CBS/Paramount to create, produce, and star in another sitcom, with Craig Ferguson serving as executive producer. Cho hosted a special/pilot episode of “The Henry Cho Show” on Great American Country in 2011.
