Moss, like the other new players in the game, was initially assigned to the Tadhana tribe. Edorsson was voted out while the two were on different tribes; however, when given the option of allowing her to take his place in the game, he chose to stay on his tribe, and she was eliminated after finishing last in a challenge. Moss remained on the Tadhana tribe after a tribe swap, along with fellow newcomers Caleb Bankston and Ciera Eastin, and was joined by returning players Tyson Apostol, Gervase Peterson, and Aras Baskauskas. Except for Baskauskas, everyone on the tribe formed an alliance under Apostol’s leadership, united by the common bond of having their loved ones voted out already.

The core alliance of five remained together after the merger and successfully eliminated Baskauskas and his brother Vytas, as well as Tina Wesson and Eastin’s mother Laura Morett (for the second time). However, at the urging of Bankston, Moss decided that overthrowing Apostol was the best option. Their first attempt failed because they couldn’t persuade Eastin to vote against Apostol, and when the two of them, along with Wesson’s daughter Katie Collins, attempted to vote Eastin out, Bankston was eliminated instead. With Bankston gone, Moss took command of the outsiders’ alliance and eventually persuaded Eastin to join him and Collins in voting against Monica Culpepper.

However, this resulted in a stalemate of two consecutive tied votes, resulting in Collins’ elimination following a rock draw. Moss and Eastin tried to persuade Culpepper to join them in eliminating Peterson as a last ditch effort against Apostol, but she refused. Moss was voted out during the Final Five, and after losing the Redemption Island duel, he became the fourteenth person to be eliminated from Survivor: Blood vs. Water. Moss finished seventh as the fifth jury member. Eastin was the next to go, effectively ending Moss’s alliance. Moss chose Apostol as the winner of the Final Tribal Council.
