Gervase Peterson Pagong Tattoo
Gervase got “Pagong” tattooed on his left arm sometime between his two seasons. Pagong is a Survivor: Borneo tribe.
Pagong became infamous for its strategic failures before and after the merger, despite being younger and physically stronger than its rivals, because the concept of alliances was not yet universal in the series. The term “Pagonging” was coined to describe their extinction. The color of their tribe is yellow.
Gervase Peterson Survivor
Peter Peterson was a member of the Pagong tribe during the original Survivor season, Survivor: Borneo, and was forced to eat cooked rat for sustenance. He made a derogatory remark about women, which was attributed to him, but the female members of Pagong voted Klug out the next time they had the chance. Peterson was unaware that former Tagi members Richard Hatch, Kelly Wiglesworth, Rudy Boesch, and Susan Hawk had formed a voting alliance after the two tribes merged into Rattana. The Tagi alliance, along with former Tagi member Sean Kenniff, eliminated Peterson at the Final Tribal Council, and CBS admitted that the alleged blunder was done on purpose to fool viewers and pundits in order to conceal the true winner’s identity.
Survivor: Blood vs. Water, the show’s 27th season, saw Peterson compete for the second time. Peterson and his niece Marissa were cast together, with Peterson joining the Galang tribe of veteran contestants and Marissa joining the Tadhana tribe of returning players’ loved ones. The Tadhana tribe decided to retaliate against Marissa after his excessive celebration of the Galang tribe’s first victory. Marissa finished 17th in the third Redemption Island duel, losing to the husband-and-wife team of Candice and John Cody. After a tribal swap, Peterson was assigned to the Tadhana tribe but eventually transferred to the merged Kasama tribe. Throughout the season, he served as alliance leader Tyson Apostol’s right-hand man.
In the penultimate Tribal Council, and the last opportunity to use a hidden immunity idol, Apostol gave his second immunity idol to Peterson, who used it to overturn the two votes cast against him. Peterson, along with Apostol and Monica Culpepper, made it to the Final Three, but received no votes. Apostol received seven of the eight jury votes, while Culpepper received one.
