Chiu completed his General Surgery residency at Detroit Riverview Hospital. He went on to become Chief Resident, General Surgery, at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital the following year. After a year, he transferred to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he worked as a Fellow in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for two years before becoming Chief Fellow in 2002.

Chiu was the first person to work at his wife’s plastic surgery practice. The Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery clinic is located in Los Angeles. The clinic has over 35,000 patients and many wealthy clients.

The Chiu family donates half of every net dollar to their community.
