Fearne Cotton is an English author and broadcaster. In the late 1990s, she began her career presenting numerous children’s television shows for GMTV, CITV, and CBBC. She hosted The Xtra Factor, an ITV2 spin-off of the main show, in 2007. From 2004 until 2021, Cotton hosted Top of the Pops, as well as some Red Nose Day and Children in Need telethons. She was a team leader on the ITV2 comedic panel show Celebrity Juice from 2008 to 2018.

Cotton joined BBC Radio 2 in July 2016, filling in for Graham Norton on Saturday mornings (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) alongside former Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp while Norton was on vacation. Fearne covered for Ken Bruce on October 24-28, 2016, 13-17 February, 3-7 and 10-14 April, 11 May, 29 May-2 June, and 23-27 October in 2017, and 14-16 February in 2018. Fearne also filled in for Chris Evans on the Breakfast Show from April 9 to 13, 2018. Cotton filled in for Claudia Winkleman on Sundays in late 2018.

She joined BBC Radio 1 in September 2005 to co-host the Friday early morning slot with Reggie Yates, with whom she had previously worked on CBBC, Only in America, and Top of the Pops. Cotton and Yates have hosted BBC Radio 1’s Chart Show since 14 October 2007, succeeding JK & Joel, who had departed the station. Cotton went on to become the first female permanent presenter of a BBC radio chart show. (Jo Whiley was the first female presenter of The Official UK Top 40, as it was then known, but she only did so once, on November 24, 2002.)
Cotton was appointed as the new presenter of BBC Radio 1’s weekday mid-morning show on July 16, 2009, succeeding Jo Whiley (who went to weekends). Her new show premiered on September 21, 2009.
On February 27, 2015, she announced that she was expecting her second child and would be leaving BBC Radio 1. Clara Amfo took over the mid-morning show from Cotton on May 25, 2015. Cotton’s farewell episode aired on May 22, 2015.

Cotton co-hosted the second series of ITV’s Love Island with Patrick Kielty in 2006. She took over from Ben Shephard as host of The Xtra Factor on ITV2 in 2007, presenting the show for one series before departing to work in America; she was replaced in the next series by Holly Willoughby.
Cotton co-hosted the ITV2 dating show Holly & Fearne Go Dating with Holly Willoughby beginning on 5 September 2007, in which the pair tried to find dates for lonely singletons. Cotton began appearing as a team captain on the ITV2 comic panel show Celebrity Juice in 2008, alongside host Keith Lemon and fellow team leader Holly Willoughby. Cotton took a short sabbatical from the show in 2013 to give birth, and Kelly Brook filled in for her for the ninth series. She left the show in 2018.
Cotton also co-hosted the Isle of Wight Festival 2009 on ITV2 with Rufus Hound. Cotton has hosted Fearne and… on ITV2 since 2009. Cotton hosted The Nation’s Favorite Number One Single, a three-part programme that revealed Britain’s favorite No. 1 single in 2012. Cotton has co-hosted Fearne & Gok: Off The Rails with Gok Wan for ITVBe since 2016. Cotton appeared on five episodes of ITV Breakfast’s Lorraine in March 2017.
