Career

Yang started her career as a broadcast journalist while attending the University of Maryland. She was a reporter for the University’s cable channel’s program Maryland Update. After that, she started working as a correspondent for National Geographic Today on the National Geographic Channel. She declined a position in New York, the largest market in the country, and then accepted a reporting position at NBC4. She had the opportunity to broadcast the Olympics 2018 in Seoul while she was employed with NBC4. She attended the inaugurations of presidents and met two popes. She was awarded an Emmy in 2019 for her outstanding hosting of the Foodies restaurant program. Yang presently co-anchors News4’s weekday broadcasts at 4 and 6 p.m. alongside Jim Handly and Leon Harris, respectively. Prior to assuming her evening anchor roles in April 2023, Yang anchored the News4 Today weekday morning newscast for more than a decade alongside co-anchors Joe Krebs, Aaron Gilchrist, and Jumi Olabanji.
