She was the first reporter to interview Kamala Harris when her historic candidacy for vice president was announced. From 2011 to 2015, Haines served on the board of directors of the National Association of Black Journalists. She got a contract with Creative Artists Agency and will begin working as an on-air analyst for MSNBC in August 2020.
