Taking refuge in a clearing in the woods with his best friend, Patrick, and a strange kid named Biaggio. After a while, she develops feelings for Patrick and they begin dating. Joe refers to her as a “cancer” and a “bitch,” and eventually forces her to leave the house. He attracts a snake into the house while disposing of a dead rabbit. He tries to kill the snake with his machete but instead gets bitten on the ankle and collapses.
