Skinner began acting when she was six years old when she enrolled in an acting class, and she later signed with the Abrams Artists Agency. Her first appearance was in a NUMB3RS episode in 2009. Skinner appeared as one of the leads in Jessica Biel’s short film Sodales, which was featured in Glamour Magazine’s “Reel Moments” in 2010. She has also appeared in episodes of Shake It Up, Days of Our Lives, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Austin & Ally, The Mindy Project, Sam & Cat, Criminal Minds, Rizzoli & Isles, and others. She appeared in the music video for Avicii’s “Broken Arrows” in 2015. In 2014, she starred in her first theatrical film, Blood Ransom.
Skinner landed her first major role as Amber in the premiere of the Disney Channel series Andi Mack. She tried out for the parts of Andi, Buffy, and Amber, as well as a chemistry read with Peyton Elizabeth Lee, and Asher Angel. Skinner began working with the Brat network in 2018. She’s also appeared on the network’s talk show, Brat Chat. She and Lilia Buckingham released the single “Denim Jacket” in November 2018 and donated a portion of the proceeds to GLAAD. In the 2019 dance film Next Level, Skinner played Cindy Stallings. She also appeared in the MarVista film Secrets in the Water and the Lifetime television film Saving My Daughter.
