Duggan applied to MasterChef in 2015 but was turned down. She reapplied in 2016 and was accepted after preparing a fish & chips audition dish. On July 26, 2016, she played in the final against Matt Sinclair, ultimately winning the series by 86 points to 84.
She returned in season 11 in 2019 as a guest mentor for the green team at Noosa Surf Club for the Queensland Week’s team challenge, when she disclosed that she was pregnant. Matt was the blue team’s companion mentor. During her final cook in the MasterChef kitchen, Elena described her cool-headed turnabout as “a moment of clarity” over her desire to have fun.
