Quijano began her career in 1994 as an intern at WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois, and later rose through the ranks to become a reporter, producer, and anchor there.  Quijano departed WCIA in 1998 to work for WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida, as a general assignment reporter. Starting in December 2000, Quijano worked as a correspondent for CNN Newsource, a CNN affiliate. She was in Kuwait City just before the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, covering the September 11th attacks. For approximately a month, she was in Kuwait. Quijano also reported on the Columbia Space Shuttle catastrophe in 2003 and the Beltway sniper assaults. Quijano joined CNN/US as a general assignment correspondent in Washington, D.C. in 2004.

She covered the Pentagon, the Supreme Court, President George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign, and vice-presidential candidate John Edwards’ campaign. She joined CNN as a White House correspondent in 2006. Quijano covered important topics throughout George W. Bush’s presidency, including the War on Terror, the failed attempt at comprehensive immigration reform, and the 2008 financial crisis. Quijano departed CNN on December 23, 2009, and began working for CBS News as a general assignment reporter in early 2010. Quijano is stationed in New York City for CBS News. Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, the Sandy Hook Elementary School atrocity in 2012, and the 2014 World Cup were all covered by her.
