American actor Bonilla played Danny Alvarado in the television series Chicago PD. Officer Danny Alvarado works for the Chicago Police Department. He was the covert rapist who killed his hitman and his victim, both of them were Venezuelan immigrants.

He was a combat veteran of the Army who had no serious problems. After being released from the police, he got married, started a family, and then joined the CPD to work with immigrants who were camped out in front of his station. Throughout his career, Alvarado would come into contact with Aaron Marshall, a habitual offender, and apprehend him during a drug bust outside of a trap house.

Beneath this amiable façade, however, was a sinister secret: Alvarado was a serial rapist who preyed on female immigrants, knowing that doing so would jeopardize their position in the city. The victims also had no means of paying for legal representation, so no one would come forward and accuse a police officer like him.

A Venezuelan immigrant called Gabriela Baez once filed a complaint alleging that Danny had sexually assaulted her friend Raquel Bolivar. She would later backtrack, though, after receiving threats. Later on, Gabriela became pregnant with his child, which he intended to use as an anchor, but he was afraid that if the child was born, someone would find out. Alvarado prepared to get rid of both her and the kid.

Bonilla role on Guiding Light

Bonilla appeared as Raphael “Rafe” Rivera on the CBS daytime soap opera Guiding Light. CBS terminated the daytime drama Guiding Light in the midst of its 72nd season in order to compete with the rising popularity of reality television. With less action on conventional studio sets and a “shaky-cam” aesthetic that emphasized extreme closeups and quick cuts, the show took on a new look.

While interior sequences had a “on-location” vibe and transformed actual venues like production offices into motels, nail salons, and quick-marts, exterior shots were shot in authentic outdoor settings. The producers and CBS had hoped that the new style would boost the show’s ratings, but the strategy eventually failed. September 18, 2009 marked the conclusion of the series, which was the second-to-last Procter & Gamble soap opera to conclude.
