E. D. Hill “Terrorist fist jab”

Hill inquired whether a fist bump between then-presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle after the final 2008 Democratic presidential primaries was a “terrorist fist jab” on an edition of America’s Pulse on June 6, 2008. Hill, speaking before a commercial break to introduce an impending topic, suggested that the motion was either “Is that a fist bump? Is it a pound or a terrorist fist punch? “When the segment resumed after the break, however, the phrase was never clarified. Bloggers and media commentators were outraged by the occurrence. The next day, Hill apologized for her remarks.

The following week, Hill’s show, America’s Pulse, was canceled by Fox News Channel. The Live Desk with Martha McCallum would expand to two hours (1–3 p.m.), and Trace Gallagher would join McCallum as a co-host. After the general election in November 2008, it was revealed that Hill’s contract with Fox would not be renewed. She planned to stay with the network until the end of her contract. “We elected not to renew E.D.’s newest contract,” says Fox’s Senior Vice President of Programming Bill Shine, but adds that “Hill has been a vital contributor to the success of FNC over the years, and we wish her all the best.”
