Dulé Hill Psych
He appeared as Burton “Gus” Guster, Shawn’s best friend and business partner in the American detective comedy-drama television series Psych. Gus is a “sympathetic crier” who prefers softer pursuits over blood, heights, planes, corpses, or jumpsuits. He has two left knees and enjoys bowling, but the idea of becoming a private investigator intrigues him.
He brings a variety of abilities to the table, including the Blueberry, Super Sniffer, and an encyclopedic knowledge of pharmaceuticals, and he is 1/16th robot (not the evil kind). Gus nearly won the spelling bee when he was a kid, but he took Shawn’s advice and misspelled his word. He applied to and was accepted to the Meitner School for gifted students as a child, but his parents turned him down.
He was voted “Most Well-Liked” and “King of Howdy-Day” in high school. In sixth grade, he also took one semester of pre-law. His parents, Bill and Winnie, are overly protective of their son, and even as an adult, they treat him as if he were a child in need of care. They object to his friendship with Shawn and offer him money to look after their son. Gus also has an older sister Joy, who may be adopted, and an uncle named Burton, who appears to despise him for attending Pomona College.
Dulé Hill The West Wing
He appeared as Charlie Young in the American serial political drama television series The West Wing. Charlie began as the president’s personal aide and later as a deputy special assistant to the chief of staff. He was romantically involved with Zoey Bartlet. At the end of the series, he begins law school at Georgetown.
Dulé Hill Doubt
He appeared as Albert Cobb, Sadie’s best friend, and co-worker at Roth & Associates in the American drama television series Doubt. Albert takes over Billy’s case after discovering that Sadie and Billy have been sleeping together. Nick is assigned to dig up dirt on Russo and discovers that Billy’s mother and Mrs. Myers were once friends. Evidence was tampered with in order to convict Billy of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Amy Myers. Molly, Billy’s sister, testifies that she witnessed Billy standing over Amy’s dead body and that her mother sent her back to Korea to silence her. Molly’s therapy session tapes are used by Sadie to demonstrate that Molly was angry with Billy and felt estranged from her adoptive mother. Albert and Sadie have a strong case against Billy.
Dulé Hill The Wonder Years
He appeared as Bill Williams, Dean’s father in the American coming-of-age comedy television series The Wonder Years. The Wonder Years takes a nostalgic look at the Williams family, Black middle-class residents of Montgomery, Alabama, through the eyes of imaginative 12-year-old Dean.
