After acting in a number of short films, Burge made her television debut as Becky Sproles in the fourth season of the NBC/DirecTV drama Friday Night Lights in 2009. The show ended with its fifth season in 2011. Burge stated in a local interview that she had not watched the show before being cast, but that this did not limit her talents when auditioning for the job because she was “so right on” for the role. Burge starred in the evangelical sports drama Seven Days in Utopia in 2011 and as Lexi Samuels in three episodes of the ABC Family drama The Lying Game’s first season. Burge also appears in the 2011 horror comedy Humans vs. Zombies.

Burge starred in the family film Cowgirls ‘n Angels in 2012, performing some of the stunts on horseback. She participated in another family film, My Dog Champion, in 2013. Burge participated in My Jerusalem’s “Mono” music video in 2013. She also appeared as Niki Walters, the daughter of Vince Masuka (C.S. Lee), in the eighth and final season of the Showtime crime thriller Dexter. Burge appeared as Zoe in seven episodes of the short-lived CW science fiction love drama Star-Crossed in 2014, alongside former Friday Night Lights co-stars, Aimee Teegarden and Grey Damon. Burge joined the cast of the NBC drama Chicago Fire in 2015 as Jessica “Chili” Chilton, the paramedic in command in the third season (following Charlie Barnett, who played Peter Mills). In the fourth season, Burge was introduced to the main cast. Her character was written off the show in 2016. In 2017, she co-starred as Karen in the Viceland sitcom What Would Diplo Do? alongside James Van Der Beek.
