She began her career as a reporter for KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff, Arizona, in 1990, and eventually rose to the position of news anchor. She was employed as a news anchor at KSBW in the Monterey-Salinas, California market in January 1991. She served in that capacity until November 1997. She has since been on Action News as well as at KSBW’s Share Your Holiday programs. In 1998, she hosted the television show A Quest for Excellence, which was produced by the California Teachers Association and featured students, teachers, and administrators as well as celebrity interviews. She and Peter Funt co-hosted the hidden camera television show Candid Camera. She “guest-anchored for KSBW” the 5 p.m. newscast with weeknights in 2011, announced as Dina Ruiz-Eastwood and billed on-air as Dina Eastwood.
Eastwood was named to San Francisco State University’s “Alumni Hot Shots” list in 2009. During the making of her husband’s film Invictus, she found the South African a cappella group Overtone. The band later recorded songs for the Malpaso Productions soundtrack. Eastwood appeared in two of her husband’s films, True Crime (1999) and Blood Work (2002), playing a reporter.In The Forger, she co-starred with her stepson, Scott Eastwood, as Vanessa Reeve. Eastwood is a past head of the Board of Trustees of the California Museum of History, Women, and the Arts. Since 2010, she has been a frequent contributor to Carmel magazine and a non-fiction editor for the literary periodical Reed Magazine. She has also been a yoga instructor.
