From 1978 until 1986, he co-anchored with Barbara Simpson. From 1986 to 1998, Elaine Corral was the co-anchor, succeeded by Leslie Griffith until 2006. Julie Haener was his last co-anchor. He and his wife settled in Pleasanton, California, during his work. Richmond retired on May 26, 2008, his 65th birthday, after 40 years at KTVU, 31 of them as anchor. Richmond had become the dean of Bay Area TV news anchors by the time he retired, as well as the Bay Area’s longest-serving anchor. Richmond serves on the board of directors of the Child Abuse Consortium, a statewide government body in California. He has also served as the General Chairperson of the Alameda County YMCA fundraising effort. He has also served on the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee to Save High School Sports in Oakland.
