He is most known for co-writing and performing in the 1983 film Easy Money with his mentor, Rodney Dangerfield. He wrote for Dangerfield for four years, including sketches for network specials and jokes for his show. He provided the voices for Lem and Clem in the animated picture Rover Dangerfield. He also penned a Broadway musical for Jackie Mason. He and Dug McGuirck released “I Sleep Naked in the Rain” in 1998, an album of songs from an unproduced one-man show with music. Blair has been the opening act for almost 150 celebrity headliners, including comedians Rodney Dangerfield, Joan Rivers, Jackie Mason, and Alan King.

He spent 20 years touring with George Carlin. His experiences as an opening act for celebrities inspired him to create the book Me First. Blair has been on more than fifty television series, including The Tonight Show. He co-wrote the programs for the 2005 and 2006 Writers Guild Awards. Blair received the Charlie Award for greatest comic in New York and an Emmy Award for Confessions of a Standup. He is also a songwriter, having written the song “Ordinary Man” for the Easy Money soundtrack. Dennis and his songwriting collaborator John Durkin earned the top forty prize. The duo took first place in the country music category of the Indie Music Channel’s Radio Music Award for their song.
