DeMarco Morgan is an American TV journalist who presently anchors for ABC News. He co-hosts GMA3: What You Need to Know alongside Eva Pilgrim. Morgan began his broadcasting career while pursuing his master’s degree at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism by covering the September 11 attacks.

In 1997, Morgan graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Jackson State University in Mississippi in 2001, followed by a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in 2002.

Career
While completing her master’s degree at Columbia University, she helped found the J School student chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), interned at CBS Nightly News and 48 Hours, and was named a Fred Friendly fellow. He also served on the YMCA Board of Directors and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He had a doctorate in journalism at the time of the September 11 attacks. Morgan also taught journalism at Jackson State University and English at Milwaukee Area Technical College for two years.
After graduation, Morgan landed his first broadcasting job at CBS affiliate WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2004, he joined ABC affiliate WISN in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked alongside Portia Young for three years. In 2007, he joined Miami NBC station WTVJ as an anchor and announcer. In December 2008, she joined NBC’s flagship station WNBC in New York as a weekend anchor and served as host of MSNBC. In January 2012, Morgan joined Atlanta-based NBC affiliate WXIA, where she hosted the 6 p.m. Weekly evening news anchor Brenda Wood anchors the 11 p.m. Night broadcast. While in Atlanta, Morgan also taught journalism at Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta University. In October 2015, Morgan left WXIA and joined CBS News as a reporter.
On April 17, 2019, it was announced that Morgan would be moving to KCBS in Los Angeles on May 6, 2019, working as an anchor from 4:30-7:00 a.m. and the 11 a.m. news with Susan Marks. He also served as a news anchor for CBS station WCBS in New York and CBS News Weekend in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic, as CBS employees were not given the right to use the CBS Broadcast Center. Morgan became a reporter and anchor at ABC News in 2022 and was soon transferred to the rotating anchor of GMA3: What You Need to Know due to employee trouble with the former news anchor. Morgan and Eva Pilgrim were named permanent members of the show in May 2023; Dr. Jennifer Ashton. While in college in 2001, Morgan became the only African American male to be ranked among Scripps Howard’s top ten universities in the country.

While in Milwaukee, Morgan served as the United Negro College Fund Honorary Grand Marshal for two consecutive years and received numerous Associated Press and media awards. Morgan was listed as “one of America’s Future Young Leaders” in Ebony Magazine’s 2006 effort to honor African Americans who “understand the importance of energizing their communities” and consider “new leaders.” He also received the NABJ National Community Service Award in 2006. Morgan received the Thurgood Marshall Prestige Award for community service in 2009 while in New York.
