Walker began his journalism career in the 1960s with WFTV and WESH-TV in Orlando, Florida. He relocated to Sacramento with KOVR and KCRA in the 1970s. Walker and co-anchor (and wife) Lois Hart left Sacramento in 1980 to join CNN in Atlanta, Georgia, where they co-anchored CNN’s first newscast. He joined CNBC in 1989 and hosted the network’s first news program. Walker and Hart decided to return to Sacramento in 1990, where they anchored evening newscasts until 2008.
