David’s career in television began more than five years ago as an anchor/reporter in Alpena, MI, several hours away. On the ‘Sunrise Side,’ he donned numerous hats, even using a stopwatch to time his scripts. After working “Up North,” he returned to his birthplace of Flint, MI, to work as a reporter/producer for the FOX affiliate.
He rose fast through the ranks and was eventually elevated to Weekend Anchor. He became the Weekend Morning Anchor for WNEM-TV5 after the station merged with the CBS affiliate. He took a hiatus from television to pursue a career in the culinary arts, but his passion beckoned, and he returned to the “business” at NBC24.
David is a four-time Emmy Award winner and has been nominated for five more awards for his reporting. His work has also been acknowledged by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, the Telly Awards, and he’ll be delighted to inform you that a piece he produced about his uncle, a retired professional boxer, got an Associated Press ‘BEST’ Award.
