Later, he costarred with his sister Raquel in the independent films A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and Little Fugitive from 2006. He starred in two independent films in 2007: Where God Left His Shoes and Tracks of Color. He appeared in two movies: the 2009 picture The Ministers, starring John Leguizamo, and the 2008 movie 27 Dresses, starring Katherine Heigl. He most recently portrayed Raphael Santiago in Shadowhunters from 2016 to 2019 and starred in the William Wedig-directed film Forged opposite Manny Perez.
Playing Jesus in the national tour of Neil Simon’s female adaptation of THE ODD COUPLE was one of his favorite parts. Starring in the program were Barbara Eden, Elisabeth Alley, Larry Thomas, and the late Shirley Prestia. The tour received overwhelmingly positive reviews for all 148 performances it gave in more than 50 cities. In RELENTLESS, he had the chance to play Fern in his mother’s native El Salvador. Working with director Lance Tracey and the amazing Lauren Shaw made the experience one to remember. Mr. Castro owes his commitment to the arts to his painting aunt Jane Glodek and his painter niece Roxana. The majority of his recent work has been in the independent film industry.
