Kyri played Desmond, a composite character based on Derrion Albert, in the 2014 short film Perfect Day. He appeared in plays such as Moby Dick, Macbeth, and Ms. Blakk for President in Chicago. In 2015, he played Logan in Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party and Brock in Saranormal, a TV mini-series. In 2017, he received a Joseph Jefferson Equity Award nomination for Principal Actor in a Play for his work in Objects in the Mirror at the Goodman Theatre. In 2018, Kyri played Hamlet in a Gift Theatre production, offering what the Chicago Tribune called “a standout performance.”
He co-wrote and starred in The T, a web series about a white trans lady and a Black queer man in Chicago, with Bea Cordelia. It had its world premiere at the Chicago Cultural Center. Kyri auditioned for the role of Darren Ritter on Chicago Fire in 2018, with the role being planned to last 2-3 episodes. He appeared in most episodes as a recurring guest for the next two years before being upgraded to series regular in August 2020. In the 2022 Shudder lo-fi horror thriller Night’s End, he plays a YouTube paranormal investigator.
