Dahéli Hall is an American actor, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and filmmaker. She is an actress and author, notable for Bad Hair (2020), Dear White People (2017), and Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021).

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree[3] from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts (1998)—in the Experimental Theater Wing—and a Master of Fine Arts degree[3] in Producing for Film and TV from the University of Southern California.

Career

Hall is a writer, director and actor; He is best known as the host of MADtv Season 13 (5 episodes in 2008), and as the funniest host of the BET prank dating show Hell Date. His work also includes documentaries that appear on various websites under www.Tickles.Tv, and 2004’s “Memo” and 2006’s “Mandingo in a Box” were selected for the HBO Short Film Awards. He said the following about acting: “…Comedy is my main tool for expressing myself. I define myself as a special type of humor and wit. I consider Comedy to be a ‘good actor’: ‘I believe that people are the most outspoken and open-minded. They share their ideas and When they laugh is the best time for them to think and talk.

One of the main themes of Hall’s films and stand-up comedy is black social problems. His first major project was a short film called “Memo”, which explored the actions of Ted, who was unaware that the black revolution had begun. The Mandingo in the box features a life-size black male “lover doll” said to represent the ideal man for black women. Hall made a small change as the creative producer of “Conciliation,” a series about a young man trying to set a good example in a society of great influence.

Hall also used her talents as a substitute teacher at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, teaching theater, teaching improv, and teaching grades 10-12. He prepared a curriculum for high school students in grades. Her first teaching experience began as a teacher at Zeitgeist Community Learning Center in the spring of 2005; where he trained Crenshaw High School students in making, teaching and curating personal short films. Dahli continues to use her skills in the classroom, serving as an adjunct professor at various colleges and universities, including Los Angeles Valley College and Clark University in Atlanta, and the University of Georgia. She recently returned to New York to speak at the Fieldston School on “Gender Politics in the Performing Arts.”

Hall participated in the NYUinLA Mentoring Program as a mentor for 8 months in 2013. Hall now plays “Dahéli Live!” He hosts his own monthly performance called. The episode can be watched on YouTube. In 2008, Hall made a guest appearance on MADtv Season 13. He became the fourth African-American actor in film history (the previous three were Debra Wilson, Daniel Gaither, and Nicole Randall Johnson) and the only Black Caribbean actor. Hall appeared in only five episodes of the thirteenth season.
