Curtis Sittenfeld is an author from the United States renowned for her seven novels and short tales. She has authored two books that tackle themes of coming-of-age and romantic love: You Think it, I’ll Say It and The Man of My Dreams. Her other works include American Wife, Sisterland, Eligible, Rodham, a political novel set in an alternate history centered on the life of Hillary Clinton, and Romantic Comedy, a comedy writer and pop star’s romantic comedy.

She is the second of Elizabeth “Betsy” Curtis’s (née Bascom) three girls and one boy born to Paul George Sittenfeld (d. 2021). Sittenfeld, her younger brother, used to serve on the Cincinnati City Council. Her father was Jewish, while her mother is Catholic.

Prep
2005 saw the release of Sittenfeld’s first book, Prep, which she spent three years writing. The story is told from the viewpoint of Lee Fiora, a South Bend, Indiana, kid who is accepted to the prestigious boarding school Ault School, which is located close to Boston, Massachusetts.
The New York Times Review of Books author Elissa Schappell observed, “Sittenfeld’s dialogue is so convincing that one wonders if she didn’t wear a wire under her hockey kilt.” Prep was listed as one of the best five fiction books of 2005 by The New York Times. In a 2018 reevaluation, Entertainment Weekly called Prep a “cult-classic”.

Random House released Sittenfeld’s second book, The Man of My Dreams, in May 2006. From the conclusion of her eighth grade year through her time as a college student at Tufts University and into her late twenties, it chronicles the life of Hannah, a girl. The release date of Sisterland was June 25, 2013. Kate, the main character of the book, is an identical twin with psychic abilities.
Random House released Eligible on April 19, 2016. Cincinnati, Ohio serves as the setting for this modern-day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.ABC announced in September 2017 that it would produce a TV pilot of Eligible, with Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper writing the script.Random House released a collection of short stories titled You Think It, I’ll Say It on April 24, 2018.
Published in 2020, Rodham is an alternate history political fiction that explores the life of Hillary Clinton. At the point where Hillary decides not to wed Bill Clinton and enters politics as a single woman, the fiction deviates from reality. Rodham’s detractors were split. Romantic Comedy, a brand-new book, was released in April 2023. The narrative centers on pop singer Noah Brewster and late-night sketch comedy show writer Sally Milz.
