Stratton SF Sketchfest
In 2002, Stratton, David Owen, and Janet Varney co-founded SF Sketchfest, the San Francisco Comedy Festival. Renowned as one of the most esteemed festivals in the nation, it features sketch, stand-up, improv, tributes, films, reunions with former cast members, musicals, and alternative comedies. Carol Burnett, Conan O’Brien, Neil Patrick Harris, The State, Gene Wilder, Garry Shandling, The Kids in the Hall, Mr. Show, Paul Reubens, Upright Citizens Brigade, and many others are among the artists from the past.
Cole Stratton Comedy
Stratton has studied improvisation at M.I.’s Westside Comedy Theater and The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He also frequently plays with Pretty, Pretty Pony and The Cobranauts. Alongside Rachel Dratch, Oscar Nunez, Simon Helberg, Danny Pudi, John Michael Higgins, Michael Hitchcock, Ian Brennan, Janet Varney, and Jessica Makinson, he performs as part of the improv troupe Theme Park on tour. Theme Park has appeared in shows at Rooftop Comedy Festival, Moontower Comedy Festival, Bentzen Ball, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and SF Sketchfest. The Bay Area sketch group Totally False People, which had a performance at the 2004 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, was co-founded by him. Together with Janet Varney, Stratton has penned and performed a number of humorous audio commentary roles for motion pictures. Nelson, the founder of RiffTrax and a former cast member of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
The films Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Footloose, Poltergeist, The Lost Boys, Jaws 3D, Flatliners, and Dreamscape are among the RiffTrax commentary that feature Stratton and Varney. His television credits include Good Girls, American Horror Story, 9-1-1, Nash Bridges, America’s Most Wanted (starring The Zodiac Killer), MTV’s Yo Momma, Animal Planet’s The Retrievers, and Comedy Colosseum, an NBC competition comedy pilot.
