Storyline

Ray finds solace in music, learning to play the piano from a local store employee. Atlantic Records’ Ahmet Ertegun discovers Ray and records his first hit, “Mess Around.” Ray marries Della Bea, the daughter of a minister, but she is dissatisfied with his gospel and soul music.
Ray’s success skyrockets during the 1960s. Ray enlists the help of a girl trio to form “The Raylettes.” Ray is immediately smitten by Margie’s (Regina King), the lead singer’s charms, and the two embark on an affair. Ray is arrested for heroin possession but is released on a legal technicality that the police did not have a search warrant. Margie departs from the Ray Lettes to pursue a solo career. Ray writes “Hit the Road Jack” with Margie in it. Ray and Della Bea move into a big new house with their children in the early 1970s. Della is uneasy in her new home.

Storyline
Frankie Lymon was 13 years old when his band Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers charted with “Why Do Fools Fall in Love?” Lymon began a solo singing career, but it all fizzled out. Lymon’s career was over by the age of 18, and he died seven years later of a heroin overdose. In a series of flashbacks, the film follows Lymon’s rise and fall. In scenes set in the 1950s, Miguel A. Nunez Jr. plays Little Richard.

Storyline

Chauncey responds to Caine’s attack by sending a copy of the surveillance tape to the authorities, who begin searching for Caine and O-Dog, who are now wanted for the liquor store robbery and murders. Meanwhile, Caine beats up Ilena’s cousin as he asks him about the pregnancy outside Caine’s grandparents’ home. After seeing the beating, Caine’s grandparents have had enough of him and kick him out of their home, despite Caine’s pleas to stay. Ilena’s cousin gathers his mates in order to exact vengeance on Caine.
