The song, which was used prominently in a recent episode of Channel 10’s hit local drama ‘Offspring,’ is the album’s first single. And it’s stunning. Our diva is definitely still in love with someone, but she is unable to deal with the reality that their relationship has plainly not gone as planned. Of course, she quickly informs him. It’s a lovely song, superbly sung by one of Australia’s most dynamic artists.
Clare Bowditch Weight Loss
Clare was too young to deal with the pain and powerlessness she felt following her sister’s illness and death, and her weight and eating became very important to her. She was dubbed Big Bird and Fatty-boom-bah at school because of her size. She felt humiliated, which was exacerbated by the fact that she couldn’t fit into store clothing and had no larger role models to look up to.
Her parents defended her weight and emphasized the importance of what was within her. Bowditch, however, begged to be brought to a diet doctor in year four and was placed on an incredibly rigorous low-fat, low-carb, no-dairy, no-sugar diet. In sixth grade, she spent her pocket money to purchase her first calorie-counting book from a newsstand; at twelve, she attempted bulimia.
When she did reduce weight, she received the respect of her peers and even their parents. Well-meaning remarks ingrained themselves in her mind, associating thinness with merit. Bowditch claims she ”made quite an f—ing mess of my teenage years” — drinking, smoking, boyfriends — and was locked in a loop of losing and regaining weight. When she was 21, she went to London and had a mental breakdown.

The Winter I Chose Happiness, Bowditch’s fifth studio album, was released on September 14, 2012. The album charted at number 11 in Australia. The album was nominated for an award at the 2013 ARIA Music Awards.
