Cindi Leive is a women’s champion, media leader, and journalist. In addition to being the CEO of The Meteor, she has hosted podcasts, written or produced multiple books, including the 2018 New York Times bestseller “Together We Rise,” which chronicles the creation of the March for Women’s Lives. She was also the editor-in-chief of Glamour and Self magazines.

While still a Swarthmore College student, Leive worked as an intern at The Paris Review, where her career started. Following graduation, Leive joined Glamour as an editorial assistant, working with Ruth Whitney, the magazine’s 31-year editor-in-chief. Leive was the deputy editor of Glamour for 11 years before becoming the editor-in-chief of Self magazine. Self’s circulation rose by 11% when Leive was in charge. In 2001, Leive returned to her position as editor-in-chief of Glamour.

She was responsible for the launch and growth of glamour.com, which, along with the magazine, reaches one in eight American women and has an online user base of 11 million unique visitors and 9.7 million print readers. Under her direction, the publication debuted a monthly digital edition, well-liked special editions, apps, and books, including two New York Times best-sellers; Lipstick.com, Glamour’s standalone beauty website; and Condé Nast’s first-ever digital spin-off, a digital video network with original content based on Glamour produced in association with Condé Nast Entertainment. In order to promote girls’ education, Leive also started The Girl Project, which made Glamour the first women’s media company to launch a charity program.

She was the president of the American Society of Magazine Editors before joining the board of directors of The International Women’s Media Foundation.Leive is on the boards of the Brooklyn Public Library and Swarthmore College, where she received her undergraduate degree. Leive was a judge for the American Mosaic Journalism Prize in 2022.

Leive appeared on Crain’s “Top 40 Under 40” list in 2002. She was also recognized as one of Gotham magazine’s most influential “Women Under 40 in New York City”. Leive declared at the end of 2017 that she will be quitting Glamour after 16 years in charge. She was bestowed with Glamour’s highest accolade, the Woman of the Year Award, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the magazine, publishing sector, and women globally. Former first ladies Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, Cecile Richards, the longtime president of Planned Parenthood, and Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, were among the women who honored Leive’s achievements.
