Turlington was discovered in 1983 by a local photographer named Dennie Cody in Miami. The photos he took ended up in a modeling agency, and she soon became a part-time model. Her family moved to Danville, California, where she attended ‘Monte Vista High School’, possibly in 1985. During her summer vacations, she continued modeling before being signed by the ‘Ford Modelling Agency’ the following year. Christy appeared in the outdoor scenes of Duran Duran’s ‘Notorious’ music video in 1986. Soon after, she established herself as a successful model, appearing on the cover of ‘Vogue Germany’ in January 1987.
She dropped out of high school in 1987 and relocated to New York City to pursue a career as a model full-time. Within two years, she had signed a seven-figure contract with Calvin Klein and would remain with the brand until 2007.
