Seidel was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to a Danish mother and a German father who worked in the navy. She grew up in both Denmark and Germany. She pursued her interest in acting by attending theatrical camps, performing The Rocky Horror Picture Show in German, and spending a semester at film school in Cape Town, South Africa.

Boardwalk Empire
She plays Sigrid Mueller in Boardwalk Empire. She co-starred in the second, third, and fourth seasons. Season Two’s episode “Two Boats and a Lifeguard” marked her debut. She is hired by Nelson Van Alden to look after his daughter Abigail. They later marry and settle in Chicago under the names George and Sigrid Mueller.
Sigrid, a nursemaid, responds to Nelson Van Alden’s advertisement for a nanny job. She is provided lodging and board, meals, and $18 per month for a seven-day work week. She is an outstanding cook and has agreed to prepare food in advance for the baby. Van Alden, the father, is impressed by her and sings a Swedish lullaby.
Van Alden pays a visit to her home and learns that she is the oldest of seven children and has always looked after her siblings. She tells a story about her youth, when she tried to nurse her newborn sister from her own breast. Van Alden receives an unopened letter from his estranged wife Rose, which contains a petition for divorce. Abigail starts crying, and Sigrid consoles her.
A landlady brings Nelson, Abigail, and Sigrid to their apartment in Cicero, a sleepy town. They married under false names and have a son. Nelson accepts a position as a salesman but struggles with his employment. He loses the yearly sales contest and returns home to report the loss. Sigrid pushes Nelson to believe more in his sales abilities, and they make love.
Godless
She appeared as Martha Bischoff, a mysterious German woman who raises some suspicion in La Belle in the American Western drama television miniseries Godless. Marshal John Cook and his posse learn in 1884 that Frank Griffin and his gang have killed Creede, Colorado, and that Roy Goode, a former gang member, has stolen money from a damaged train. Roy finds assistance at Alice Fletcher’s ranch, where she nurtures him back to health. Cook informs the local sheriff, Bill McNue, about the incident and warns him that Frank’s group may return to La Belle.
The Quicksilver Mining Company arrives in La Belle to discuss the mine’s future, and they suggest a plan to put La Belle back on track. Bill and Roy talk about finding Frank before following him to La Belle. Alice kicks Roy out and offers to sell her horses to the town if he stays and breaks them.
Cook meets a Native American and urges Quicksilver to defend La Belle from Frank Griffin. Whitey and a posse come at Alice’s ranch, requesting Roy’s return. Whitey travels to Blackdom, a little community near La Belle, to take violin lessons from his buddy, Louise. Grigg publishes Frank’s tale, claiming that the gang is on its way and will kill Roy and everyone who tries to protect him. Logan arrives in La Belle and declares himself “the law.”
