Stause is best known for her role as Amanda Dillon on the ABC soap opera All My Children. She started playing the character on May 4, 2005, when she brought the character back to Pine Valley after being absent for five years. Alexis Manta previously took on the role of Amanda. After the show ended on September 23, 2011, Stause appeared as a guest star in the second season of the Dana Delany show Body of Proof. She was a member of the Los Angeles improv troupe The Groundlings.
