Isham organized the first major network interview with Osama bin Laden in May 1998 and broke additional important stories exposing airport security dangers, CIA interrogation techniques, post-Hurricane Katrina insurance fraud, and secret Saddam Hussein tapes. From 2001 to 2007, Isham was the Chief of Investigative Projects for ABC Journalism in New York, where he developed one of the most successful investigative units in television journalism. His team was in charge of breaking hundreds of new stories and exclusive reports on everything from terrorism to political corruption.
Isham oversaw all ABC broadcasts, including ABC World News Tonight, Nightline, 20/20, Primetime, Good Morning America, ABC News Radio, and ABCNews.com. His section also created the “Blotter” investigative site on ABCNews.com, which broke numerous important stories, including the Mark Foley story. In 2007, Isham was named Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief for CBS News, where he is in charge of all major CBS News broadcasts’ news gathering, people, and technological operations. When the Daily Beast disclosed that Isham was a confidential informant for the FBI in the 1990s, he faced serious issues about his journalistic ethics.
