Age
He was born and raised in Washington, D.C., United States of America.
Education
Prior to leaving school to pursue a career in juggling, he majored in comparative literature at Northwestern University and the University of Oregon. He chose not to go the traditional road of doing juggling in the manner of a circus. Rather, he decided to combine well-known melody with hurried, well-choreographed movements.
Married- Wife
Chris is happily married to his wife.
Career
Rather than going the traditional circus route, Bliss opted to combine fast-paced, tightly choreographed juggling moves with popular music. While many jugglers try to juggle an increasing number of objects, Bliss chose to juggle just three balls. It was this combination of popular music and a straightforward juggling style that made Bliss a big hit and ultimately led to his selection as The Jacksons’ only opening act on their 1984 Victory Tour. Bliss continued to expand his juggling act to include stand-up comedy, and his act now combines both juggling and stand-up elements.
A video of Bliss’s juggling climax went viral online in 2006, catapulting him into broad recognition. In the five-minute video, he does an exuberant juggle of three balls to The Beatles’ Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, and The End. The film received a lot of exposure through blogs and email, with an estimated 20 million views in the first forty days alone. Over 80 million views have been estimated to date. After the video went viral, Bliss was invited to guest on Penn Jillette’s radio show, which created quite a stir in the juggling community. Penn belongs to the World Juggling Federation and was a juggler himself.
The UK musician Fatboy Slim asked fans to submit juggling videos for his single release That Old Pair of Jeans on MySpace after his “Grand Finale” video went viral. You were required to “Juggle to music like Chris Bliss” in the competition, which included a video showing Bliss juggling three balls in his signature way to the song. In addition to his work in show business, Bliss founded the nonprofit organization MyBillofRights.org, which was given 501(c) 3 status in 2006. The project’s objective is to erect monuments and other public displays honoring the US Bill of Rights in public areas across the nation. On July 5, 2008, their inaugural exhibit was dedicated in Montezuma, Iowa.
