He began performing at the age of six, appearing in commercials and modeling for various print projects. He moved on to television, appearing as a guest star on Family Law, followed by Boomtown, Malcolm in the Middle, 7th Heaven, Providence, and The Division. He had a supporting role in George Bamber’s The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green, which led to a major supporting role in Gregg Araki’s Mysterious Skin, a guest appearance on an episode of Six Feet Under, and a semi-regular role as Noah Newman, the son of Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), on the soap opera The Young and the Restless in 2005.
In Mysterious Skin (2004), he played an 8-year-old version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character, one of the film’s leads. In this film, he plays one of two boys who are lured into a sexual relationship by their Little League baseball coach. However, the picture was shot in such a way that the young performers were completely oblivious of what they were responding to. Ellison appears in the 2010 film Tooth Fairy as the teenage son of Ashley Judd’s character, who is the fiancée of the titular protagonist (Dwayne Johnson). Ellison graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 2011, where he was an active member of the drama club and participated in theater shows.
Ellison received an FAA license to operate large camera drones in 2018 and has been hired by ‘Beverly Hills Aerials’ since 2019, where he works as an aerial drone cinematographer, filming aerial video for commercials and sporting events. Ellison was inspired to pursue a career in aerial cinematography after aiding his mother’s business by collecting aerial footage with his DJI drone.
