Wurzer’s 2008 book, Tales of the Road: Highway 61, is about US Highway 61 and Minnesota State Highway 61 in Minnesota. Wurzer graduated from Minneapolis South High School and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with degrees in broadcast journalism and urban studies. Before joining Morning Edition and Almanac, Wurzer was an anchor and reporter at WCCO-TV, Minneapolis’ CBS affiliate. She also worked as a talk-show presenter for WCCO-AM radio, a producer for KMSP-TV, and a political reporter for KSTP-AM. Wurzer was a trustee of the UW-River Falls Foundation. She is a member and former president of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Minnesota branch. When not at work, Wurzer enjoys horseback riding and training, fly fishing, and clay sculpting. She is divorced from Eric Eskola, her Almanac co-host.
