Granda began his career in television news as an associate producer at WINK-TV, a CBS affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida. Later, he was hired as a full-time reporter by the station. Granda joined Miami-based WLTV-TV in 1985 and covered a number of major events, including Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the Bahamas, the Centennial of the Statue of Liberty in New York, and the crash of a Delta plane in Dallas. Granda left WLTV-TV after two years to cover Central American issues at ABC-TV affiliate WPLG-TV in Miami.

Granda moved to WABC-TV in New York in 1990 to work as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for “Eyewitness News this Morning.” In late 1993, he joined New York-based WNBC-TV as its New Jersey correspondent. Granda returned to Miami in 1995 to work as an anchor at WFOR-TV, a CBS affiliate. In April 1998, he began working for ABC7 as a general assignment reporter.

Granda has covered some of Southern California’s most important stories while at KABC. He covered the Democratic and Republican conventions in 2000, Election Day in Austin, Elian Gonzalez’s deportation, and the World Trade Center attack, as well as several stories about Al Qaeda detainees at the Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba. Granda has received five Emmy nominations. He won an Emmy for his “My Home is the Street” documentary series about the homeless.
