Amezcua is an American journalist best remembered for his sixteen years as the initial co-anchor of the KTLA Morning News, alongside Barbara Beck, Mark Kriski handling weather, and Sam Rubin reporting on the entertainment business. The team became accustomed to airing at 5:00 a.m., and humor crept into the newscasts. The show was described as “the first one with the crazy anchors” by managing executive Steve Bell. Amezcua departed KTLA in September 2007 for KTTV, where he replaced John Beard as anchor of Fox 11 News at 10:00 p.m.; he left KTTV in 2013 to start his own media company, Carlos Media Corporation. He worked as a co-anchor at KUSI-TV San Diego from 2015 until 2019.

He presently co-hosts the Carlos & Lisa show (with Lisa Remillard) on BEONDTV[9] and KDOC-TV Los Angeles (2020). Amezcua has performed at the Latin Grammy Awards and holds a gold record for his translation of “Let It Snow” on Chicago’s Christmas album, Chicago XXV: The Christmas Album. From 1973 to 1975, he was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala/El Salvador, and he studied journalism at Brigham Young University (1975). In 1998, he recounted the Christmas narrative alongside Chuck Henry for an event commemorating the lighting of the Los Angeles California Temple.
