Marquardt submitted a letter to Playboy, seeking how to become a Playmate, on the recommendation of friends who suggested she pose for Playboy magazine before enrolling at San Joaquin Delta College. She entered Playboy’s Millennium Playmate hunt in 1998 when she was 25 years old.
Marquardt relocated to Los Angeles, California in 2001, where she worked as a local model and in minor acting parts. After failing two Playboy tests, she was accepted to the Playboy Mansion and quickly became a regular.
