Rudat began his professional career as an intern on the Today Show in New York City and as a producer for WNBC’s Today in New York, where he covered the 9/11 terrorist attacks and their aftermath. Rudat then moved to Maryland, where he worked as a morning anchor and reporter for WHAG-TV (NBC 25). Rudat has also worked as a political reporter for a New York-based cable news network and as a fill-in anchor at WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut, where he was known for his investigative reporting on illegal street sellers and manufacturers of illegal fire extinguishers. Rudat worked with the 7News crew in Boston, Massachusetts, until April 2009, then moved to KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles from June 2009 to April 2010.

From May 2010 to July 2013, Rudat worked as the morning program anchor for CBS Atlanta (now CBS46), the CBS affiliate in Atlanta. He also made a brief appearance as a news presenter in the 2011 movie Green Hornet. On January 29, 2014, he began working as an anchor for the show Good Evening Arizona at KTVK 3 (3TV), a Phoenix-based station. In Phoenix, he is known as Brandon Lee. He co-anchored the 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. newscasts on Phoenix-based Arizona Family networks KTVK (3TV) and KPHO (CBS5), alongside Yetta Gibson.
