She began her stage career in the 1990s, winning an Ovation Award for her performance in the Los Angeles production of Our Country’s Good. She later appeared in a number of television shows, including Malcolm in the Middle, Veronica Mars, Star Trek: Enterprise, Criminal Minds, Bones, Dharma & Greg, Parks and Recreation, The Nine, The West Wing, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Castle, Monk, and Parks and Recreation. Friedericy has appeared in films such as Christmas with the Kranks, Alien Raiders, Paranormal Activity 3, and The Lords of Salem. Friedericy appeared in the NBC comedy series Chuck as NSA General Diane Beckman for the entire five-season run from 2007 to 2012.
She appeared as a recurring character in the first three seasons before being promoted to series regular in the fourth. In November 2013, she was cast as a series regular in the Lifetime comedy-drama UnREAL, playing a psychologist opposite Shiri Appleby. She was later replaced in the role by Amy Hill. She made an appearance on the second season of ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder in 2015. Caroline Becker, a member of the underground Allied resistance group Kreisau Circle, was voiced by her in the 2014 video game Wolfenstein: The New Order.
