How old is Bob Rogers? – Age
He is 96 years old as of 3 December 2022. He was born in 1926 in Victoria, Australia.
Bob Rogers Family
Rogers was born in Donald, Victoria to British parents. Before becoming a farmer, his father worked as a junior butcher. He used to assist his father in rounding up the sheep and catching the lambs prior to slaughter.
Bob Rogers 2CH Radio
Rogers accepted John Singleton’s offer to join Sydney radio station 2CH in November 1995. According to the Nielsen radio ratings study, Bob Rogers’ Morning Show became the fourth most-heard radio program in Sydney in that time slot on February 21, 2007, beating John Laws of 2UE into fifth position. An easy-listening station in Sydney has a more difficult time gaining a larger audience share than a talkback station. Overall, 2CH has surpassed 2UE to grab sixth place.
Long-time professional competitor John Laws viciously insulted Rogers with obscenities in an unprovoked attack on 5 December 2007 while dining with 3AW personality Derryn Hinch in a Woolloomooloo restaurant. Rogers said in November 2018 that he will no longer be conducting his morning show after suffering a stroke while on the air in 2018. He continued to deliver his Reminiscing program on Saturdays until October 3, 2020, when he announced his retirement.
Bob Rogers 2GB
Rogers joined 2GB in October 1976, however, his stint with the station was brief. In June 1977, while conducting the 2GB morning program, Rogers was fired for failing to use the seven-second delay button during an on-air interview with John Singleton. The usage of a ‘four-letter term’ by Singleton was broadcast. The topic of discussion was Rogers’ impending shift to an afternoon slot.
Bob Rogers Career
In 1942, Rogers started working as a panel operator for 3XY in Melbourne. He worked six days a week as a radio announcer at a Hobart station, including presenting racing on Saturdays. Before long, Rogers was allowed to begin a Sunday evening music program, playing new records given to him by American mariners falling off ships from America.
Rogers surrendered and began a comparable music program on Brisbane’s 4BH in 1950. Rogers was the first DJ in Australia to play the Slim Dusty song Pub With No Beer and propel it to the top of the charts in 1957. Rogers along these lines introduced Australia’s most memorable Top 40 show on 2UE from 1958 to 1962.[when?] For the following eight years, he was Australia’s top radio DJ.
He joined 2SM in 1962, which rose to number one. Rogers was selected to accompany The Beatles on their tour of Europe, Asia, and Australia in 1964. He went back to 2UE and hosted his morning radio show, which featured music, provocative commentary, and gossip in a new format. Artists who were looking for interviews liked his show. In 1976, Rogers composed Wild Australia, a book about the introduction of the Australian stone industry. He started a chain of dress shops for women in 1982.
