Cunningham has been a regular on the 50,000-watt radio station 700 WLW since 1983. His first regular show on the station aired at night, from 9:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. During the summer, when WLW broadcasts Cincinnati Reds baseball games, his show was not audible. Cunningham’s show was shifted to the early afternoons in the late 1990s, directly against one of his favorite radio hosts, Rush Limbaugh, whose show is carried on sister station WKRC.
Due to a contract issue, Cunningham’s WLW show went on hiatus in June 2010. Soon later, Clear Channel, the station’s owner, revealed that he had signed a long-term deal to stay with the station.
