Big Boy is a radio personality and actor from the United States. He hosted the morning program at Los Angeles Rhythmic Contemporary station KPWR (Power 106) from 1997 until February 2015, when he moved to KRRL (Real 92.3).

Big Boy became a bodyguard for the rock group The Pharcyde after becoming acquainted with the industry while DJing at Culver City High School parties. Big Boy was buddies with the Baka Boyz, Power 106’s morning show hosts. Big Boy, who was always a hilarious personality, was offered a hosting role with the station and quickly proved popular in nightly and afternoon hosting spots. In the late 1990s, Big Boy’s image became well-known throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. His big break into the national spotlight came in 1998 when he was hired as an announcer on the Vibe TV talk show (named after the renowned magazine) hosted by comedian Sinbad.
Boy clearly had media fans at the executive level, since Big Boy was offered a host position with Power 106 in the early 2000s and was advertised by plastering his 500-plus pound visage on billboards throughout the area. Big has been crowned Radio Music Awards[citation needed] Personality of the Year four times and Radio and Records magazine three times. In 2002 and 2004, he received the Marconi Award from the National Association of Broadcasters. He was inducted into the 2015 National Radio Hall of Fame in September 2015. He also hosted the “I Love New York Management” segment on the second episode of the VH1 reality series I Love New York Boy is now developing his own network sitcom and broadcasts his syndicated weekend show, formerly known as “Big Boy’s Hip Hop Spot.” He has done voice-overs for MTV’s reality game show Yo Momma.
Big Boy performed “Aca Entre Nos” as a special guest at Vicente Fernández’s concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre on November 24, 2010. Big began producing films in 2010 through his production firm, Ida’s Son Productions. Exit Strategy is a romantic comedy about James (Jameeel Saleem), who is evicted from his flat and forced to move in with his three-month girlfriend, Kim (Kimelia Weathers), and rapidly realizes she’s not his type. Luscious Liz Hernandez departed Big Boy’s Radio on August 22, 2011, to become an E! News correspondent.
Emmis Communications filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Big in February 2015, after he accepted a $3.5 million contract with iHeartMedia and left the KPWR morning show. Crosstown Urban Contemporary station Real 92.3 KRRL is owned by iHeartMedia. J. Cruz was the morning show host at KPWR until he departed the station in 2019 before moving to KRRL as its afternoon host, with Nick Cannon taking his position as the new host in early June. His nationally syndicated program was shifted from Westwood One to iHeartMedia’s syndication division Premiere Networks in March 2016, a year after he joined KRRL and iHeartMedia. Since July 30, 2018, the show has also been broadcast in a two-hour edited video format on the American cable network FM (Fuse Music).
