Beers produced the cult film 200 Cigarettes in 1999 while living in New York City. Courtney Love, Guillermo Diaz, Martha Plimpton, Christina Ricci, and Ben Affleck starred in the cult classic. 200 Cigarettes is also the first film to feature Goldie Hawn’s daughter, Kate Hudson (who played a role very similar to her mother). Beers was the President of director Mike Newell’s Dogstar Films, where she produced 200 Cigarettes, starring Ben Affleck, Dave Chappelle, and Kate Hudson, and Best Laid Plans, starring Reese Witherspoon. High Fidelity, directed by Stephen Frears and starring John Cusack, and Pushing Tin, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Cate Blanchett, and Angelina Jolie, were also projects she worked on.
She also worked with producer Gale Ann Hurd on the films Safe Passage, starring Susan Sarandon, and Witch Hunt, starring Dennis Hopper. She later became President of the Mark Gordon Company. She oversaw the development and production of the company’s feature film and television projects, including Grey’s Anatomy. Ms. Beers also produced the feature films The Hoax starring Richard Gere and Casanova starring Heath Ledger, both directed by Lasse Hallström. Beers joined forces with Shonda Rhimes’ production company, ShondaLand, in 2009 to develop and produce new feature films and television shows.
