Barry Rothbart is an American comedian, actor, and writer. Rothbart began his career in advertisements and enjoyed some early success. His most recent credits are Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Conan (TV Series), and MTV’s Punk’d (2011). He began his career performing with the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City in the early 2000s.

He later enrolled to Pace University to study commerce, but left after a year to pursue cinema at Hofstra University. Rothbart then took classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre before concentrating on stand-up.

Rothbart began working in advertising, where he achieved early success. In 2011, Rothbart made his television debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 2013, he was named one of Variety Magazine’s “Top Ten Comics to Watch.” In 2012, Rothbart was offered a role in the revival of Punk’s End, but was fired after four episodes after his management team leaked the news that he had been cast. In 2013, he portrayed Peter de Blasio in the Martin Scorsese-directed film The Wolf of Wall Street. In June 2014, his show 300 Sunnyside was picked up for Comedy Central’s fall season. Later that year, he released an album, Street Fire, on AST Records. He then played Kevin in the ABC comedy Downward Dog. Rothbart has hosted or appeared on several podcasts. He co-hosts “Save the World” with Barry and Lucas, a free discussion about people who want to save the world. He has been a guest on the Shoot This Now podcast, where he shares his story of working as a photographer for a nudist group for gay men over fifty.
