Career
Buck began his acting career in 1989 after graduating from high school. He played his first gig at a cafe called Caffe Nuvo in downtown San Anselmo, where he hosted stand-up comedy nights every Sunday in the early 1990s. Buck appeared in 1997’s “Premium Blend” and later in “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Glass House.” He hosted the Comedy Central show twice, first on September 20, 2000 and again on March 31, 2006. He appeared on the Australian program Thank God You Are Here on 18 October 2006, 19 September 2007 and 17 June 2009. Barker created and performed with Doug Benson and Tony Camin in the New York City Off-Broadway show The Marijuana-Logues. The title of the series is a parody of The Vagina Monologues. NBC tapped Barker to star in the sitcom “Nirvana,” which was originally scheduled for release in 2004.
Buck appeared as Dave on the HBO sitcom Flight of the Concerto. Since making his debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2000, Barker has enjoyed success over the years in Australia, where he currently resides. He won the Best Album award for his song “Organik” at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards. During the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Barker made headlines in Australia when he asked a mother who was breastfeeding her 7-month-old child to leave the audience level and return her ticket. Buck said the boy was interrupting his thoughts.
