Anthony Clark is an American actor and comedian who starred in the CBS sitcom Yes, Dear. He is an actor and writer, known for The Rock (1996), Yes, Dear (2000) and Dogfight (1991).

Family- Education

Clark was born in Lynchburg, VA. His father was a manufacturing worker, while his mother ran a general store. When he was five, his parents split. When he was 12, his family relocated to Gladys, Virginia, a tobacco plantation 50 miles south, where his stepfather lived. Clark was selected College Entertainer of the Year while attending Emerson College. Clark earned a mass communications degree from Emerson in 1986.

Career

Clark started his career as a stand-up comedian. Clark appeared on a 1995 HBO young comedians special hosted by Garry Shandling, alongside Dave Chappelle, Dave Attell, and Louis C.K. Before landing a regular starring television role, Clark appeared in several small film roles, including a supporting role as “Billy” in Peter Bogdanovich’s The Thing Called Love, which starred River Phoenix, Samantha Mathis, and Dermot Mulroney, and as Paul, the flamboyant hotel barber in 1996’s The Rock. In 1995 and 1996, he had a recurrent role on the sitcom Ellen. His first starring role was in the short-lived television comedy series Boston Common. He went on to star in another short-lived series, Soul Man.

Clark was cast as Greg Warner in the television sitcom Yes, Dear, in 2000. He was nominated for a Young Artist Award (together with co-star Jean Louisa Kelly) and a Prism Award for his performance in this role. Alan Jackson’s 2005 music video for “The Talkin’ Song Repair Blues” features him and his Yes, Dear co-star Mike O’Malley. Clark was appointed to host NBC’s Last Comic Standing in March 2006, after CBS had cancelled Yes, Dear after six seasons. Clark played Jack Schumacher in the 2011 comedy My Uncle Rafael, which stars Missi Pyle and John Michael Higgins.
