Before moving to Sydney to pursue a degree in media communications at the University of Sydney, Asimus was originally from Gundagai, which is located in rural New South Wales. She graduated from the University of Southern Queensland in 2012 with a Graduate Certificate in Climate Adaptation.
Asimus began her vocation as a columnist in 2008 with Seven Queensland working at their Townsville newsroom. She moved to Seven’s Brisbane Newsroom in 2010 and started out as the court reporter there.
Asimus reported on the weather during the 2011 floods. Shortly thereafter, he became a full-time weekend weather presenter. She finished her tertiary studies in climatology at the University of Southern Queensland while she was doing this. Asimus began working as Patrick Condren’s fill-in news presenter in 2012.
