Like Don, David appears to be wedded to his work; it’s not that he doesn’t have girlfriends, but they don’t usually last very long. David may not have as many comic books as Don claims, but he does have a sizable collection (“Sneakerhead”).

Sabrina the Teenage Witch

He played Quizmaster Albert on the ABC/WB series Sabrina the Teenage Witch from 1997 to 1998. Albert, also known as Quizmaster, is a witch who trains and quizzes Sabrina in preparation for her Witch’s License. Albert was Sabrina’s Quiz Master in Season Two, and his goal was to teach her how to use magic so that she could get her Witch’s License after a year of training. Throughout the year, he was simply known as Quizmaster; however, his true identity is revealed later in the season.

Sabrina is disappointed when his name turns out to be Albert, so they decide to stick with Quizmaster instead. Sabrina like working with him, although she often finds him annoying and strict. He doesn’t give her any grace and is really strict with her. He is, nevertheless, a fair tutor who advances Sabrina’s witchcraft. Mom Vs. Magic is Sabrina’s final exam to obtain her witchcraft license. She had sent him somewhere else since she was still upset with him for what he had to do to her. As soon as Sabrina completed her Witch’s test, he was no longer required.

Career

From 1993 to 1996, Ballard played Frankie Hubbard, the son of All My Children supercouple Jesse and Angie, on the ABC daytime soap opera Loving and its sequel series The City. He also appeared as Quizmaster Albert on the ABC/WB sitcom Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1997-99) as Herbal in the Fox series Dark Angel (2000-01).

From 2005 until 2010, Ballard played David Sinclair in the CBS police series Numb3rs. In 2011, Ballard appeared as Special Agent Gayne Levin on another CBS procedural, NCIS. He was reunited with Michael Weatherly, who had previously acted with Ballard on three television series: Dark Angel, The City, and Loving, in this guest appearance.
